The Defenders Was Weak

And I totally blame the directors.  The writing wasn’t awesome, but I’ve put up with worse.  The actors are good, but most of them have been better elsewhere.  The fight scenes were often awesome.  But the directing was weak.

I really had high hopes that The Defenders would be good mostly because season 2 of Daredevil had been good. « Read the rest of this entry »

Where I’ve Been

September 19, 2016 § Leave a comment

I haven’t been posting much for the last year because of been busy on a writing gig for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands.  Are you jealous?  You should be.

This is an older trailer, and I’ve got all that NDA goodness in my life, so I can’t answer questions about the game.  The work has been fun, and I suspect that being at a indie game company that’s this big can sometimes spoil people like me.

My work isn’t quite done with it, but I’m trying to squeeze in the time to get back to my other projects.  Stay tuned…

Inking Again!

I’ve been doing some work for hire the past few months, writing for a AAA video game. If it’s as fun to play as it was to write, it’ll be one of the best open world games ever. Ever.

I squeezed in an hour and and change to work on The Memory Engine once again. I still need to edit the interior pages, but I inked up a working cover. Now to figure out the coloring part…

For thirty years, the World’s Greatest Detective, William Dante, has been in a sanatorium suffering from amnesia. But now his memory is coming back, and he’s facing his greatest mystery: his past.

Check out the five-page preview of THE MEMORY ENGINE I’ve posted in the “sample pages” section of the website!  A 90-page black and white graphic novel, THE MEMORY ENGINE is a surreal mystery about a pair of globe-trotting celebrity detectives and the dark secrets they share.

I’m still inking, adding screens, and lettering, but I’m aiming to complete the book by July.

In THE SERIOUS MAN, losing a person he shouldn’t care for causes an isolated New Yorker to question the significance of his work and his life.

Though they can be read independently, THE SERIOUS MAN is a companion piece to my novella IRIS.  Similar in style and theme, the two stories take place in New York City during a harsh winter, and the protagonists make “walk-on” appearances in each other’s stories.  I think of these links as a way to expand the world of each story without changing the scope of each emotional story.

THE SERIOUS MAN is now available exclusively for Kindle.

MetaMorphosis Proofs Have Arrived!

August 29, 2014 § 1 Comment

Proofs for my graphic novel MetaMorphosis have arrived!

I first published MetaMorphosis on comiXology, but a lot of people interested in the book don’t read enough comics to sign up there, so I’m self-publishing through Createspace, making the book available on Amazon.

There’s a lot to fix before the print book is available, but this part of the process has been a great learning experience. In the words of my hero Becky Cloonan: “Self-publish or perish!”
